Rathdrum City Park - Rathdrum, ID

Located at 15456 N. Latah St.  This facility is the City’s “signature” park, encompasses 2.28 acres, and is characterized by generally level terrain, numerous coniferous and deciduous trees, ample grass, and Rathdrum Creek. 500 rainbow trout will be stocked prior to the event.

The Free Fishing Day event is co-hosted with City of Rathdrum's Parks and Recreation.

Spring Valley Reservoir - Troy, ID

Surrounded by rolling hills and trees, Spring Valley Reservoir's fishing opportunities are favored by local anglers as trout are stocked heavily spring and fall. A maintained trail surrounds the reservoir and fishing docks and platforms increase shoreline access. Amenities include a picnic shelter, swimming beach, benches, picnic tables, handicap fishing access, and a developed boat ramp, but gas motors are not allowed. This is Stop 35 on the Idaho Birding Trail.

The event is part of Latah County Environmental days.

Riley Creek Pond - Hagerman, ID

Hagerman Wildlife Management Area (WMA) provides a variety of fishing opportunities and open space to explore on Free Fishing Day. Riley Pond and Oster Lakes are open for fishing from March 1 – October 31. Riley Pond is a relatively small and well-stocked trout fishery with lots of shoreline access, a fishing pier, and a fishing bridge.

This is a great place for kids to chase small perch. Ice fishing in particular, where kids can look down the hole and see a half-dozen fish compete for their bait, really holds their attention. In addition to yellow perch, tiger trout, and occasionally rainbow trout, are stocked here.

Fischer Pond - Cascade, ID

Tucked into a city park, Fischer Pond provides good bank fishing in the early summer and fall. The pond is the cornerstone of this cooperative community effort, with a fish viewing aquarium, horseshoe pits, volleyball courts, and picnic tables adjacent to the river walking trail.

Deyo Reservoir - Weippe, ID

Nestled amid farms and timber, beautiful Deyo Reservoir provides a great family fishing experience. A maintained trail surrounding the entire reservoir features seven fishing docks and two large fishing peninsulas, making it easy to find a good place to fish. There is also a developed boat ramp, picnic shelter, swimming beach, benches, and two handicap-accessible docks. Rainbow trout are stocked heavily spring through fall.

Bannock Reservoir - Pocatello, ID

Located within the Portneuf Wellness Complex park near the County Fairgrounds in Pocatello, this new community park offers trout fishing with many recreational amenities nearby. The five-acre pond is surrounded by playgrounds, soccer fields, basketball courts, running and biking trails, and an amphitheater for community events. Multiple docks provide fishing access around the pond.

Winchester Lake - Winchester, ID

Located in a beautiful forested setting, Winchester Lake offers very easy access. Docks and fishing platforms enhance fishing opportunities for beginners and accomplished anglers. Facilities include a picnic shelter, fish cleaning station, swimming beach, benches and picnic tables, and a range of camping options. Many facilities are located in Winchester State Park, where an entrance fee applies. Thousands of rainbow trout are stocked in the spring and fall year-round, you will find good fishing, plenty of recreation activities and wildlife viewing opportunities.

Hagerman Oster Lake #1 - Hagerman, ID

Hagerman Wildlife Management Area (WMA) provides a variety of fishing opportunities and open space to explore. Riley Pond, the Bass ponds, and Anderson ponds (1-4) are on the northwest side of the WMA, while Oster Lakes (1-5) are to the southeast via Hagerman National Hatchery Rd. West Highway Pond is across Hwy 30.

Fenn Pond - Kooskia, ID

If you visit the Selway River and are just looking for a good place to harvest some rainbows for dinner, check out Fenn Pond. This small pond next to the Selway River offers especially good fishing in the spring and early summer when it's stocked with rainbow trout. The boardwalk and fishing dock offer easy access on even ground.

Deer Creek Reservoir - Pierce, ID

This beautiful mountain reservoir was built specifically for trout fishing. Rainbow trout are stocked from spring through fall in this remote setting for high catch rates from shore or a boat. To add variety, this lake is also stocked with sterile brook trout and tiger trout. Boaters, please observe the no-wake restriction.

In 2004 Deer Creek Reservoir, the first major fishing area built in 40 years, opened for business. It's stocked with trout and provides fishing opportunities for kids, families and avid anglers.
